Review Summary: The well done vocals don't make up for the sub-par lyrics. Album is good but nothing more than that. Nickelback is a band that needs no introduction. Whether you love them or hate them. Let me try that again, whether you don't mind them or you despise them, we are all very aware of who they are. The group is well known for recycling their songs and providing little innovation to the rock genre at all. This part in itself is mostly true though it doesn't always mean its bad. Nickelback managed to take the mainstream rock genre and add a little edge to it, while still maintaining the accessibility of it. From the albums first track 'Follow You Home' we are immediately hit with something no one would expect. Double bass pedal. Already you have to admit that it caught you off guard and this no doubt gives the listener some hope for the rest of the song that follows. The hard hitting but simple drum beat matches up to the crunchy, edgy guitar work very well. The vocals however are bland and uninspired until the chorus starts up, which still makes up for it. The album obviously isn't all good though, in fact as many would have guessed a lot of it is just plain bad. It features a few throw away tracks that just seem to bleed into one another. With over 17 million albums sold worldwide, Nickelback, returns with one of the most anticipated records of the year, ALL THE RIGHT REASONS. A surefire can't miss album that features the smash hit quot;Photograph.quot; With their fourth album, All the Right Reasons, Nickelback ditches any pretense of being a grunge. 'Fight For All The Wrong Reasons' sounds very similar to many songs they have written in the past and even though the band tries to incorporate a heavy 'pump-up' sound, they just don't pull it off and the listener daydreams until its conclusion. Tracks like 'Side Of A Bullet' and 'Someone that you're with' follow the same routine. I had to force myself to pay attention through these tracks. 'Photograph' is a song that follows the exact same formula as any other radio ballad but is executed very well. The song is no doubt a guilty pleasure for many though it may be hard to admit. Sure there is no originality here but the vocals sound very sincere throughout the whole thing and are spot on with the instrumentals. 'Animals' follows directly after the conclusion of the third track and is instrumentally superb. The lyrics however are borderline awful and make you feel embarrassed to listen to in public. They tell a story of a girl sneaking out of her house to meet a guy in his truck, driving off and engaging in coitus. The dad then catches them and what a big surprise, the guy can't find the keys and gets busted. Yeah that pretty much sums it up, good sound brought down by immature lyrics. Other catchy tracks like 'If Everyone Cared' and 'Rockstar' are likely to be heard on the radio and maybe spark some emotion in the listener or cause them to turn it off completely. Regardless, the songs aren't bad and are a fun time to listen to. Basically to sum up the album: Its not great but certainly not terrible, its good and nothing more than that. The band doesn't deserve all the criticism (at least not this album anyway) but definitely doesn't deserve the many awards they've won.

The band relies less on metallic riffs and more on melody and texturally varied arrangements, integrating some of the more delicate acoustic moods of their. However, the riffs are mostly and atonal, employing a strong vibe. This is the band's first studio album to feature bassist and the last studio album to feature vocalist before his death in 2002. It received certification from the RIAA and has sold over three million copies worldwide. The band had been scheduled to tour during the summer of 1994 with,, and, but while in rehearsal for the tour, Staley began using heroin again. Staley's condition prompted the other band members to cancel all scheduled dates one day before the start of the tour, putting the band on hiatus. They were replaced by on the tour. While Alice in Chains was on hiatus, Staley joined the 'grunge ' while guitarist worked on material originally intended for a solo album. In January 1995, Cantrell, bassist, and drummer began on Cantrell's material. In the spring of 1995, Staley was invited back to join the band. Staley said that 'we started to split apart and went different ways, and we felt like we were betraying each other.' In April 1995, Alice in Chains entered in with producer, who had previously worked with and. Few of the songs on the album had been written before the sessions began, so Cantrell's material was used as a starting point. The band would then give the demo tapes to Staley so he could write lyrics. The album was finished in August 1995. Cantrell said, 'It was often depressing, and getting it done felt like pulling hair out, but it was the fucking coolest thing, and I'm glad to have gone through it. I will cherish the memory forever,' while Staley added, 'I'll cherish it forever, too, just because this one I can remember doing.' During the recording of the album, Staley was severely addicted to and was often late or absent for recording and rehearsal sessions for the album. Their manager, Susan Silver said, '.It was a really painful session because it took so long. It was horrifying to see [Layne] in that condition. Yet, when he was cognizant, he was the sweetest, bright-eyed guy you'd ever want to meet. To be in a meeting with him and have him fall asleep in front of you was gut-wrenching.' While in the studio, a rough mix of the song ' was leaked to radio, and received major airplay. On October 6, 1995, the band released the studio version of the song to radio via satellite uplink. The, features interview footage regarding the album. This is the last Alice in Chains studio album to feature original vocalist. Music and lyrics [ ] Cantrell, in an interview around the release of the album, said, 'Our music's kind of about taking something ugly and making it beautiful.' With the exceptions of ', ', and ', the lyrics are all written by Staley. Staley said, 'I just wrote down whatever was on my mind.so a lot of the lyrics are really loose. If you asked me to sing the lyrics to probably any one of them right now, I couldn't do it. I'm not sure what they are because they're still that fresh.' Staley added, 'For a long time I let problems and sour relationships rule over me instead of letting the water roll off my back.I thought it was cool that I could write such dark, depressing music. But then instead of being therapeutic, it was starting to drag on and keep hurting. This time I just felt, 'Fuck it. I can write good music, and if I feel easy and I feel like laughing, I can laugh.' There's no huge, deep message in any of the songs. It was just what was going on in my head right then. We had good times, and we had bad times. We recorded a few months of being human.' 'Sludge Factory' was written about a call Staley and Wright received while at the studio, from Columbia executives and. Ienner and Anthony told them they had nine days to finish the record, because they had already taken a lot of studio time. Of the album's four singles, 'Grind', 'Heaven Beside You', ' and 'Over Now', three feature Cantrell on lead vocals. Cantrell also wrote the lyrics for the songs for which he sang lead vocals. Regarding 'Grind', Cantrell said it was written at 'pretty much at the height of publicity about canceled tours, heroin, amputations, everything, thus it was another 'FUCK YOU for saying something about my life' song.' 'Heaven Beside You' was written by Cantrell after the break-up of his girlfriend of seven years. On the of Alice in Chains' box set, Cantrell described the song as 'Another attempt to reconcile the fact that my life and paths are tearing me apart from the person I love. All the things I write about her are a way for me to maybe speak to her, express things I could never express.' Commenting on 'Over Now', Cantrell said of the song: 'A lot of deep shit in there, a big epic number. Plus you can get away with a hugely long tune near the end of a record.' An acoustic version of 'Over Now' was released as a single in 1996 as part of the band's album. Release and reception [ ] Professional ratings Review scores Source Rating C favorable Although not as successful as Dirt, the album debuted at number one on the and went to stay on the chart for 46 weeks. It has since been certified double platinum. The band opted not to tour in support of Alice in Chains, adding to the rumors of drug abuse. When asked about the frustration of not touring to support the record, Cantrell provided some insight into how Staley's addictions led to repercussive tensions within the band: 'Very frustrating, but we stuck it out. We rode the good times together, and we stuck together through the hard times. We never stabbed each other in the back and spilled our guts and do that kind of bullshit that you see happen a lot.' It was noted for being a break away from the externally applied grunge label affixed to the group. Described the album as a 'musical rebirth,' and remarked that in contrast to the raw distortions associated with grunge, Alice in Chains' sound was 'cleanly delineated and meticulously layered.' Jon Wiederhorn of Rolling Stone called the album 'liberating and enlightening, the songs achieve a startling, staggering and palpable impact.' Bill Adams of Ground Control Magazine, reviewing Alice in Chains discography wrote 'If indeed turned out to be the gateway that got so many more people hooked on Alice in Chains, it can only be said that the band's self-titled album implies withdrawals or a sense of significant unease or discomfort. The signs that something is just not right appear everywhere both on and in Alice in Chains; the front cover features a photo of a three-legged dog (one too few) while the back cover presents a picture of a three-legged mandolinist (one too many). The album's liner notes feature images of ghastly, contorted with no flesh on their arms, sinister, personified bottles swimming through black oceans, cartoons of animals standing on trial, synthetic limbs and more. They are images of turmoil, and discomfort, and it's difficult to look at them.' Alice in Chains included the singles ', ', and ', all of which had accompanying. 'Grind' and 'Again' were nominated for the in 1996 and 1997, respectively. The music video for 'Again' was nominated for at the. Packaging and title [ ] The album is also known informally as 'Tripod' or 'Three-Legged Dog Album' due to a three-legged dog on the and on the back. The image of the dog on the cover was inspired by a three-legged dog named Tripod that used to terrorize drummer and chase him around during his paper-work duty when he was a kid. Kinney also designed the artwork for the album. Photographed the three-legged dog for the album cover at a playground near downtown Los Angeles on August 23, 1995. Schenck did a casting for three-legged dogs for the shoot, but the band ended up choosing a fax with the image of a dog as the cover shot. A different three-legged dog named Sunshine was used for the 'Grind' music video. The photo of the dog shot by Schenck at the playground was finally used years later on the 1999 box set. Contrary to rumor, none of the dogs used for the photoshoot, the album's cover or the music video belonged to Jerry Cantrell. The was initially available in three versions: one with a transparent purple with a yellow-green spine, one with the color scheme reversed and a predominantly version. The purple jewel case is currently and the yellow-green edition is now a rarity. On the predominantly monochrome cover, the dog has yellow eyes. The cassette edition features a purple cassette or transparent yellow-green case. It was also released on double vinyl with a purple label on the A-side and a yellow-green label on the B-side of both discs. Disc 1 featured tracks 1-6, disc 2 featured tracks 7-12 and both discs had 3 tracks per side. In Japan, the CD cover is replaced with a blank, white cover with the dark blue text 'Alice In Chains' appearing inside of a dark blue border in the bottom-right corner. The image of Frank Lentini was also removed, showing a mostly white back cover. Track listing [ ] All lyrics written by, except where noted. Title Lyrics Music Length 1. ' Cantrell 4:44 2. Because we've got, we've got, we've got some of the kind of breakdown-y. But, I mean, if you look at us as a metalcore band and then you look at, say, you know, as a metalcore band, which a lot of people say Hatebreed is a metalcore band because they've got some sort of metal-y riffs. But it's like we sound nothing alike. ” However, the band's guitarist Mike Martin has rejected the metalcore label saying: “ Yeah, we're not and we're not metalcore, so tell the people on the message board to stop calling us that.' Mike has mentioned on numerous occasions, one of his biggest influences is. ” In an interview with Crypticrock, Mike Martin stated about their musical style: “ We've always wanted to have a lot of different kind of metal songs whether it was a, fast song, or song. If you are going to write a record that is really heavy, and on the next record you have a ballad, people are going to get pissed. It's kind of a joke because it's the stuff we like, and it's the stuff we want to hear, but we play it for everybody. So, it probably does come through, and it's something that we're aware of, and we're cool with it. If we can make songs that make sense as metal songs, and All That Remains songs, so why not let your influences come into it, just so long as it doesn't get hokey, or it doesn't hurt the song. You don't want to make a song 'do something,' you kind of want to let it go its own way. If it fits and works, then it fits and works, and if it doesn't work, you can't make it work or force it to work. We just go with what we think sounds good, and what feels right to us.' ” Members [ ]. Product Information • Set in the science fiction realms of the film franchise crossover, Aliens vs. Predator is a high-definition action-adventure composed of tense, violent, kill-or-be-killed scenarios. Following the design concept of earlier AvP shooters, the game pits three different factions against one another. Players take the roles of deadly xenomorph aliens, stealthy predators, and heavily armed space marines, to do battle with enemies from the other two factions. Evolved to protect the brood, the alien xenomorphs are unmatched in melee combat, and excel at surprise attacks with their overpowering strength. Born of a species of hunters, the predator is a master of well-timed assaults and agile attacks. Physically weak but at a technological advantage, the human marines use heavy firepower to take down enemies from a distance. In many of the game's levels, warriors from all three factions must fight against one another in the same battles, at the same time. Players will have to fight hard to survive, but it pays to fight smart, as well. In some situations, characters can manipulate the environment, or accomplish other puzzle-solving feats, in order to put their enemies at a disadvantage. Single players take the roles of each species in turn, as they progress through the game's three campaigns. Multiplayer configurations are also available to Internet-connected gamers, offering the chance to play against other human-controlled warriors, in deathmatch and team-based competitions. Now the most popular in the world has finally reached version 2009. Features Windows Live Messenger offers plenty of emoticons and winks to cheer up your conversations. You can expand both collections easily by adding new sets which you'll find by the hundred on the Internet. Customization possibilities include changing the chat window background or even adding a personal message to your nickname, but not creating custom status messages. Also, Windows Live Messenger status messages have now been reduced to 'online', 'away' or 'busy' – so no more 'on the phone' or 'out to lunch', for example. Chat conversations are not the only thing you can do with Windows Live Messenger. There is also the possibility of having video chats using your webcam, and also make. Another great feature in Windows Live Messenger is the possibility to view and share pictures within the chat window, without having to send files over to your contact. Regarding contact lists, the new Windows Live Messenger lets you create specific groups of users, different from the ones previously known as 'groups' and which have now been renamed to Categories. These groups allow you to have multiple simultaneous chats with several contacts. Another new feature in the contact management system in Windows Live Messenger is Favorites, a special category that enables you to have the people you talk to most always to hand. Usability Windows Live Messenger 2009 includes many interesting new features, all conveniently built into a nice interface. I'm not sure that this handful of new functions is the reason why the program weighs in at almost 70 MB. Quality The most striking feature in the new Windows Live Messenger is an all-new interface with a colorful design, far from the traditional Windows application structure. You can customize it by choosing your own theme and color scheme. In order to maintain the neatness of this design, the menu bar in Windows Live Messenger has been hidden under a few buttons on the top-right corner – though you can temporarily make the standard menu bar visible by pressing the Alt key. An all in one chat messenger lets you synchronize all your social network contacts into one single app. Find the top 3 all in one chat messenger for pc. Windows 7 All in One ISO Full Download 32/64 Bit is best free with product key. Windows 7 ISO programs for 32 & 64 bit. Finding the operating. While I understand the reason why they did this, it makes menu options a bit uncomfortable to browse. Conclusion Windows Live Messenger reaches version 2009 with a renewed interface, loads of new features and a bit of extra weight. All I Need - Within Temptation Lyrics by The Vampire Diaries: I'm dying to catch my breath Oh why don't I ever learn? I've lost all my trust though. Contents • • • • • • Lyrics [ ] In an interview, Within Temptation vocalist Sharon den Adel discussed 'All I Need': I think lyric-wise this song is something that a lot of people can relate to. It's about the fact that [everybody], you know, everybody gets this point in life. And that is what the song is about, that you're trying to hold on to the things that are important, that you try to find something that you can believe in and which is worth living, if it's family or the love of your life or (laugh) things that make your life worth [living]. And this person in the song is really disappointed [with a lot of things], because a lot of people are fake or things don't turn out the way she had hoped they would do. And this is what the song is about and I think it's something that a lot of people can relate to. Music video [ ] The video for this single was shot on 30 September in Berlin. [ ] It was released online on 19 October 2007. The video consists of a dream world in the mind of 's character. The band is shown tied to walls of their cells, along with various surrealistic scenes. In the end of the video Sharon is shown in a hospital bed with images from the dream sequence flickering on a screen connected to her mind via wires. In an interview, den Adel discussed some elements of the video: The story is very short and very simple actually. It's a dream. A lot of times she sees a lot of schizophrenic things, you know, happening in her mind. Lea: It's you in a hospital-bed there. Sharon: Yeah, and they are monitoring my dreams, so they are analysing what I'm dreaming. And that's basically the video and it just suited best with the lyrics, because it's very difficult to express things which are very symbolic, which you can't really show in images like 'hope'. How do you express 'hope', you know? Or 'believe in something' or 'keeping something real' or 'people who are fake'. You can image that very well in a way of a dream. That's why we did it in that way. The video contains many elements and imagery from the 2000 movie. [ ] Formats and track listings [ ] These are the formats and track listings of major single releases of 'All I Need'. |
